LearningRx Addresses ADHD During Annual Wellness Night
Going back to school can be a traumatic time for a child with learning disabilities, especially if they have not yet been diagnosed. According to former teacher Kim Bellini, the back-to-school “honeymoon period” ends around mid-September, when the newness wears off and teachers start calling home about problem students.
“It can be hard news for parents,” said Bellini, now Owner and Director of The Woodlands LearningRx. “Luckily, there are several things that can be done to help, and we’re just one piece of the puzzle.”
On Wednesday, September 8, The Woodlands LearningRx will partner with The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness to present a program aimed at helping parents identify symptoms of ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The program will also discuss treatment options. Wellness Night, free and open to the public, will be held from 6 – 8 pm at The Woodlands LearningRx, located at 4840 West Panther Creek, Suite 205. Reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling the center at 832-482-3082.
Mila Q. McManus, MD (pictured), Founder and President of The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness, will be the featured speaker. A strong advocate of preventive medicine, McManus left her private practice to investigate options for the treatment of hormonal imbalance and soon started exploring treatments for other common ailments. During the Wellness Night, McManus will discuss natural treatments for ADHD including dietary changes, vitamins, detoxification and balancing hormones. Bellini will also discuss Learning Rx’s methods for improving processing speed and memory for students with ADHD.
